Rep. Vargas Recognizes Teachers in Honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day

“In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, I would like to thank all of the teachers who have sacrificed and worked tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of their students.  Teachers play a pivotal role in the development of our children and oftentimes make a significant, positive impact on those they teach.  They are responsible for igniting a lifelong curiosity and passion for learning in their students.

“It is not uncommon for us, as adults, to remember the one teacher who truly influenced us, helped us understand a subject that was challenging, inspired us to forge ahead, or opened our eyes to look at the world in a different way.  I was lucky to have a teacher who, to this day, has remained an inspiration in my life.  My kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Sundblad, personified patience, kindness, and understanding.   She was the woman responsible for teaching me to speak English, a fundamental and vital skill that has been key to my personal and professional advancement.  Mrs. Sundblad was giving, tolerant, and accepting.  She never spoke a harsh word, but rather helped her students if they ever struggled.  She made learning an enjoyable and creative adventure.

“To Mrs. Sundblad, my kindergarten teacher, and all of the teachers who have changed the lives of their students, I would like to say, thank you.  Thank you for your hard work, sacrifice, and undying commitment to our children.
