Rep. Juan Vargas Statement on the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce

SAN DIEGO – Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA-52) released the following statement on the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. 

“I’m boycotting the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and will continue to do so until they expel the GEO Group as a member. Private prison companies – including GEO Group – are getting massive federal contracts to facilitate Trump's mass deportation agenda and they’re making record profits while subjecting immigrant detainees to inhumane conditions. I’m outraged to see the right-wing turn the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce has taken since Trump’s election. As Trump continues to target and terrorize our immigrant communities across the country, supporting companies that are profiting off this immense human suffering is unacceptable. I urge the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce to drop their partnership with the GEO Group immediately.”
