Rep. Juan Vargas Statement on Redacted Mueller Report

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 19, 2019) – Rep. Juan Vargas issued the following statement on the release of the redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report:

“Despite Attorney General Barr’s several attempts to mislead the public, the Special Counsel did not exonerate President Trump from obstruction of justice claims. The heavily redacted report outlines multiple instances in which the President tried to block the investigation to hide the Trump Campaign’s willingness to benefit from Russia’s intrusion in the 2016 election.

“The American people deserve to know the truth. Congress demands the release of the full report.”

Vargas represents California’s 51st Congressional District which includes the southern portion of San Diego County, all of Imperial County and California’s entire U.S.-Mexico border.  Vargas was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term in Congress.  He serves on the House Financial Services Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee.
