Rep. Juan Vargas Statement on Special Counsel Mueller’s Press Conference
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 29, 2019) – Rep. Juan Vargas issued the following statement in response to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s press conference:
“Today, Special Counsel Robert Mueller reaffirmed two key points from his report: Russia systematically attempted to interfere with our election and Mueller was prohibited from charging President Trump with a crime. The Special Counsel’s report clearly outlines 11 instances in which President Trump deliberately tried to obstruct justice. The President of the United States is not above the law and Congress has a duty to hold him accountable.”
Vargas represents California’s 51st Congressional District which includes the southern portion of San Diego County, all of Imperial County and California’s entire U.S.-Mexico border. Vargas was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term in Congress. He serves on the House Financial Services Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee.
