Rep. Vargas Announces Newly Relocated El Centro District Office and Welcomes Imperial County District Representative Rebecca Terrazas-Baxter

El Centro, CA (May 1, 2013) –Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-51) announces the opening of his newly relocated El Centro District Office, located at 380 North 8th Street #14, El Centro, CA 92243.  The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM- 5:30 PM and staff can be reached at 760-355-8800.  The El Centro District office is available to help constituents with federal matters including, but not limited to Veterans, immigration, social security and healthcare.

“I am thrilled to have my newly relocated El Centro office open for the residents in my district,” said Rep. Vargas.  “My district staff and I are excited to continue serving the constituents of the area with federal matters and hearing their concerns or support regarding legislation.”

In addition, Congressman Vargas is pleased to welcome new District Representative, Rebecca Terrazas-Baxter, to his team.  Rebecca will represent Congressman Vargas at meetings and events taking place in the Imperial County.  She will also be available to help Imperial County constituents requesting assistance from Federal agencies.

“I am proud to have Rebecca join our team of district staff," stated Rep.  Juan Vargas.  “Her experience working in State and Federal government makes her a wonderful addition to our team, and an asset to the residents and community leaders in the Imperial Valley.”

Rebecca joins Congressman Vargas' office following more than four years of working for Assembly Member Manuel Pérez as a Senior Field Representative.  Prior to working for Assembly Member Pérez, Rebecca spent more than three years working for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.  

Rebecca, an Imperial County native, graduated from Southwest High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine.  She currently serves on a number of committees and boards, including as Secretary of Calexico Neighborhood House, Treasurer of Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo, Second Vice-Chair of the Veterans Employment Committee of Imperial Valley, and President of MANA.

Vargas represents California’s 51st Congressional District which includes the southern portion of San Diego County, all of Imperial County and California’s entire US/Mexico border.  Vargas was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2012.  He represented the 40th California State Senate District from 2010-2012, the 79th California State Assembly District from 2000 – 2006 and served on the San Diego City Council from 1993 – 2000.
