WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA-52)  and Scott Peters (D-CA-50) and U.S. Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) reintroduced the Border Water Quality Restoration and Protection Act, bicameral legislation to help combat cross-border pollution in the Tijuana River. U.S. Representatives Sara Jacobs (D-CA-51), Mike Levin (D-CA-49), and Raul Ruiz (D-CA-25) are cosponsors in the House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representatives Juan Vargas (D-CA-52), Mike Levin (D-CA-49), Sara Jacobs (D-CA-51), and Scott Peters (D-CA-50) called on the Trump Administration to reverse course on the draconian rental assistance cuts outlined in the President’s fiscal year 2026 budget request.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA-52) voted against President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ ‘Big Ugly Bill’. This legislation was passed by the Republican majority along party lines using the reconciliation process. It’s estimated that over two million Californians will lose health care as a result of this bill.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representatives Juan Vargas (D-CA-52), Pete Aguilar (D-CA-33), and Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29) introduced the Housing Stability for Dreamers Act. This bill would clarify that DACA recipients can access mortgages backed by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The resolution recognizes the historical significance of the 1862 Battle of Puebla and the courage of the Mexican people in their fight for freedom, independence, and democracy.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA) joined nearly 200 House Democrats in filing an amicus brief challenging the Trump Administration’s efforts to close the Department of Education in State of New York v. Linda McMahon. Twenty states, including California, have moved to sue the Administration for its plans to place fifty percent of the Department’s workforce on administrative leave, effectively shuttering a congressionally authorized agency.
