Rep. Juan Vargas Votes No on House GOP Budget

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA-52) released the following statement after voting no on the House Republican budget. 

“This budget is the largest cut to Medicaid in American history. It’s the largest cut to food assistance in history. It’s one of the largest transfers of wealth from the poor to the rich. Analysis after analysis has demonstrated that this bill will take away health care for millions, leave the bottom 10% of households worse off, take food away from those in need, and balloon our deficit – all so that Republicans can pay for tax breaks for billionaires. Trump calls this his ‘big beautiful bill’ but there’s nothing beautiful about making our communities sicker, poorer, and hungrier. This fight is not over, and we’ll continue to use every tool at our disposal to stop this bill.”
