Rep. Vargas Statement on Philippine Independence Day
WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (CA-52) released the following statement celebrating Philippine Independence Day on June 12, 2024.
“I want to send my best wishes to everyone celebrating the 126th Philippine Independence Day here in the United States, in the Philippines, and around the world. Our two nations share significant and enduring ties. More than four million Filipinos and Filipino Americans call the United States home, and their contributions, histories, and culture are an integral part of the fabric of our nation. Today, we celebrate the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the United States and the Philippines and commit to strengthening them in the decades ahead. Happy Philippine Independence Day!”
Rep. Vargas helped introduce a resolution to recognize June 12, 2024, as this year's observance of “Philippine Independence Day”.
This resolution honors the people of the Philippines for enduring through struggle and hardship, supports increased awareness of the Philippine Declaration of Independence, and celebrates the Filipino American community for their many contributions.
