Rep. Vargas Statement on the General Land Office of the State of Texas v. Biden
WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (CA-52) released the following statement on the decision in The General Land Office of the State of Texas v. Biden, which requires the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to resume the planning and construction process on portions of the U.S.-Mexico border wall.
“I’m deeply disappointed in this misguided decision that gave DHS no choice but to resume efforts to construct a portion of the border wall in east San Diego County. Walls along our southern border only serve to separate and intimidate communities, encroach on landowner rights, hurt our environment, and serve as an anti-American symbol of hate towards immigrants who contribute so much to our country. Instead, we need comprehensive immigration reform that addresses the root causes of migration, helps restore faith in our legal immigration system, and creates a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status holders, and farmworkers.”
