Rep. Vargas' Statement on the Passage of the Veteran Service Recognition Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 6, 2022) — Congressmember Vargas released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Veteran Service Recognition Act of 2022:

“Immigrant veterans risked their lives to keep our nation safe, and they deserve a pathway to citizenship,” said Rep. Vargas. “As an original co-sponsor of the Veteran Service Recognition Act, I’m proud to have worked alongside my Democratic colleagues to pass this landmark legislation. This is an important step toward giving our immigrant veterans the opportunity to become U.S. citizens. We should not turn our backs on those who put their lives on the line to secure and defend our freedoms. People who serve our country deserve to stay in our country.”
