WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (CA-52) announced that he joined 200 of his colleagues in reintroducing the bipartisan American Dream and Promise Act of 2025. This legislation would provide a pathway to citizenship to Dreamers, undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. It would also include recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) beneficiaries.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (CA-52) voted against the House Republican Budget Plan, H.Con.Res. 14. 

“The biggest winners in the House Republican budget are the billionaire donors and big corporations. This plan would rip away health care from millions and gut essential programs that families across the country rely on while handing $4.5 trillion in tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy,” said Rep. Juan Vargas. “It’s a betrayal. It’s wrong. Tonight, I voted no on this cruel proposal.”

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representatives Juan Vargas (CA-52) and Bill Huizenga (MI-04), members of the House Financial Services Committee, announced the passage of their legislation to update the requirements for federal credit union board meetings in the House of Representatives.

This bill will allow federal credit union boards in good standing to meet every other month instead of monthly, allowing them to focus their resources on serving consumers and small businesses and supporting economic activity at the local level.

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (CA-52) joined his colleagues in demanding answers from the Trump Administration following reports that the Administration is preparing an executive order to eliminate the Department of Education. Despite identifying themselves as members of Congress, Representative Vargas and his colleagues were denied entry to the Department of Education building. In response to being turned away, Representative Vargas released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s attempts to eliminate the Department.
